CNG with egr or without egr ???

Beitrag von Jim » 18.06.2017 11:09

I have a difficult question.....

Do you know that cars with natural gas from the Skoda octavia g-tec, leon, golf, audi tgi do not have a egr valve? And they put a plug on this point.
There is a Honda civic 1800 in the USA with natural gas from the factory and it does not have a egr valve. And they put a plug on this point. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/wp-con ... NG-034.jpg
http://st.motortrend.com/uploads/sites/ ... engine.jpg

Look the photo...the first photo is engine with cng and without egr and the second photo is petrol only engine with egr.

Does anyone know why they do not put this egr on cng engines?

Hi!

The answer is simple: The cng-engines are clean enough without egr.

But another question to You: Do You have the right to publish those pictures? Did You make them? If not, I would prefer to see only the links to avoid trouble with lawyers.

The pictures is from Google..

Thank you for your answer...if burn cng the engine is clean..if burn petrol the engine..is not clean??

and how work my engine now with cng..with egr or without egr?

I have a problem with egr.
.
When I go at a slow speed and the engine speed is 1500-2500 rpm..the engine has jolts with first egr valve .
When I put the second valve the engine has no jolts.
Look the photo...is my engine..Bild

But after a few miles a system light comes on and the damper is P0401.

Your engine will always use the egr, since it is a converted car. P0401 means that there is not enough exhausted gas brought back to the intake. Sometimes the person, who converted the car, closes the egr-pipe putting a piece of tin on a place, where normally a washer is used to make shure a fitting is close. Make shure that the pipe can be opened by the egr-valve.

BTW: I'm pretty shure there should be only 1 egr-valve.

Not in Your case. There is not enough exhaust gas entering the intake. Thats what the code P0401 tells us. Something not getting in touch with the cng cannot disturb it. Too much exhaust gas might disturb the combustion.

I don't know anything about OEM-LPG-cars. Sorry.

Make shure the car runs without any problems using gasoline. Look after the cng-stuff afterwards.
